Trips and Visits
At The Hurst learning continues beyond the classroom, with an extensive enrichment timetable and a number of trips and visits, both locally, within the UK and overseas. This gives our students the opportunity to pursue their interests and develop those essential transferable skills which enable them to become well rounded individuals.
A wide range of educational opportunities support learning within subjects including a Geography fieldtrip to Nettlecombe Court in Taunton, an Art trip to galleries in Oxford, Music and Drama students visiting the West End, and Year 9 History students visiting the Battlefields in Belgium.
We have offered Year 9 and 10 students the opportunity to visit Iceland, and Year 11 Business students have been to New York. In addition we have run residential trips for Years 7 and 9 students to PGL - the outdoor education provider - where they take part in activities including raft building, abseiling and archery. Year 8 students have the opportunity to go to Calshot Activities Centre where they enjoy doing a range of indoor and outdoor pursuits. Biennially we also run a ski trip.
Please see below the full list of visits and trips that we offer. Please note that we reserve the right to make changes due to demand, staffing and cost requirements.
