Summer School draws to a close
Back to NewsAs our three days of Summer School draw to a close, we can look back on what has been another very successful event designed to introduce our new year 7s to The Hurst School and all that we have to offer.
From offering sample lessons in our curriculum subjects which has seen the students take part in a variety of activities from analysing rat brains under a microscope, to discussing poetry, taking part in Drama lessons and playing team games, Summer School also provides an opportunity for the students to make new friends, meet children who will be in their tutor groups in September, learn how to navigate their way around the school, and most importantly - have fun!
From when they first arrived on Monday to today, you can see how much their confidence has grown, and currently there are lots of screams and cheers from the school hall echoing around the building as the students play some very competitive games of bench ball.
Miss Bancroft, one of the year 7 tutors said: "I have been very impressed with how well the students have got on with each other and they have really worked well together. It has been so lovely to see new friendships forming."
We would also like to say a special thank to the prefects who came in to help with the event, answering any questions and telling the students all about the school. We hope all our new year 7s have a lovely summer break, and look forward to welcoming them in September.
