Years 10 and 11 watch live theatre production of GCSE texts
Back to NewsToday our Year 10s and 11s are having the opportunity to be entertained by a live theatre production, with The Globe Players visiting school to perform two texts on the GCSE English syllabus.
This morning our year 10s watched a performance of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s tale where a vendetta between two powerful families erupts into bloodshed. This afternoon our Year 11 students are currently watching ‘An Inspector Calls,’ a play about the Birling family and Gerald Croft who are interrogated by Inspector Goole about the suicide of a young woman named Eva Smith.
Having studied both texts in the classroom, we believe that watching a live theatre production allows the characters to come to life and increases understanding of how characters relate to and react with each other, adding a new dimension to the texts.
