Year 9 enjoy activity packed weekend on the Jurassic Coast
Back to NewsLast Friday, a coach of 53 year 9 students, plus six teachers from The Hurst, set off for Osmington Bay in Dorset for a weekend of fun and outdoor activities with PGL.
On the Friday evening the students settled into their accommodation before a game of Ambush, essentially a huge game of hide and seek between two teams. Over the course of the next two days, the students had the opportunity to try and number of different activities including Trapeze, (leaping on to a trapeze from a 6 metre high pole, Survivor (building an outdoor shelter in a set time period), Jacob’s Ladder (climbing to the top of a suspended tower of logs), Archery and The Giant Swing. Their favourite activity of the weekend was Axe Throwing, definitely a new skill for all, but one not to be tried at home!
On the Saturday evening, the group had a campfire activity, and during the weekend they were blessed with some great weather …. apart from a 30-minute thunder and lightning storm which forced them inside until it passed!
Head of year 9, Mr Sheppard said: “It was an amazing weekend. The group got stuck into all the activities, there was great teamwork and leadership on display, and it was a lot of fun” Well done year 9.
