Year 9 Students Inspired at Basingstoke Careers Fair
Back to News
Last week, 30 of our Year 9 students headed to the Careers Fair at The Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke, organised by the Education Business Partnership (EBP) as part of the programme of Careers activities at The Hurst School.
It was an amazing opportunity to meet employers from a wide range of industries and try out some exciting hands‑on activities — from dipping objects in liquid nitrogen to see how materials change, to exploring virtual reality and watching drone demonstrations used for building inspections.
Students spoke to representatives from many organisations, including Air Ambulance, AWE, Basingstoke Council, Jackson Rowe and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
The feedback was fantastic:
“It gave me lots of ideas about jobs I’d never heard of before.”
“The liquid nitrogen experiment was really cool!”
"People were really passionate about their work.”
A huge thank you to EBP for organising such a brilliant event, and to all the employers for inspiring our students and giving them such memorable experiences!
