A well deserved Cup Win for The Hurst Yr11 Football Team.
Back to NewsAt the end of March, our Yr11 Football team played their District Cup Final at The FA Headquarters Winklebury Football Stadium. Their journey to the final was a sure thing with comfortable wins against Cranbourne School and Aldworth School. The Hurst met The Vyne School at the final, a worthy opponent.
The game started at lightning pace with both teams trying to get a foot hold on the game. As the game settled The Hurst were in control of the game a deserved taking the lead, however, The Vyne clawed a goal back just before half time.
With the game tied, both teams came out to try and dominate the second half. Fortunately, it was The Hurst who took control of the game and it didn’t take long until they got their second goal. They continued to gain control of the game and played some outstanding football. The boys were enjoying their football and managed to grab a third goal, then not before long they netted a fourth. The Vyne however continued to dig in and they got a second goal. Not wanting to lose grip of the game, The Hurst got a fifth goal which seemed to put any doubt of a win to bed. Credit to The Vyne, they kept on pushing forward and we’re rewarded by scoring a third goal. It didn’t take long for the game to reach the end with the score ending 5.3 in The Hurst’s favour. Thus crowning the Yr11 Hurst Football Team District Football Champions.
Watching these boys play football has been an absolute pleasure. They go down as one of the best footballing sides The Hurst has been graced with. I’m gutted they were robbed of so many other Cup Finals due to COVID, however I’m so pleased that they got to be crowned Champions in their final year of schooling… what an end to their journey.
Finally, I want to say a huge thanks to the staff and students who came to support the boys, it made for an incredible experience for all. Thank you.
