Year 11 take part in interview preparation day
Back to NewsOur Year 11 students are participating in an interview preparation day today which offers them the opportunity to practice their employability skills, identify suitable interview behaviours, and participate in team tasks as they prepare for the next step of their education.
Working with EBP South, an organisation which provides high-quality programmes to inspire young people about careers, the students have been undertaking several group exercises designed to get them thinking about their employability skills and getting them interview ready. EBP South’s Careers and Quality Manager, Eleanor Cameron said: “We are getting the students to think about what we mean by employability skills, for example what future employers are looking for and what skills the students have and how they can demonstrate these. The students have been really engaged, have participated in the discussions, and got on well with the tasks. I have been very impressed with them.”
Outside of this session, we are giving Year 11 guidance on how to start writing their personal statements for college applications, alongside holding 'Careers Clinics' offering additional guidance if needed. Assemblies have a careers focus, covering topics including college applications, apprenticeships and armed forces applications. Our whole school Careers Fair takes place on 13th October.
